Application range of AC potential gradient method

This method is not suitable for the search for damage points that are not in contact with electrolytes (soil, water). In addition, the following conditions may make the application of the method difficult or the accuracy of the measurement results affected:
The A-frame is closer to the transmitter;
Stripping the location where the coating or insulation causes electrical shielding;
Measuring unreachable areas, such as river crossings;
The coating at the pipe section is poorly conductive, such as paved roads, frozen soil, asphalt pavement, and contains a large amount of rock backfill.
